CONROY, Robert H., 97, in Hingham on February 14, 2017. A long-time resident of Brewster and formerly of Lexington, he is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Kathleen (Kavanagh) Conroy, and beloved daughter, Rosemary P. Conroy, of Hingham, formerly of Baltimore, MD.
Born and raised in Cambridge, he was the devoted son of the late James and Mary (Murphy) Conroy and the devoted brother of Dorothy Cusack of Falmouth, the late Mary Phillips of Belmont, the late James Conroy of Annapolis, MD, and the late Francis Conroy of Needham. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Bob graduated from St. John’s High School in Cambridge and attended Suffolk Law School. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII. After the war, he joined the New England Telephone and Telegraph Co. as Division Network Foreman until his retirement in 1981. He is a life-long member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. In retirement, Bob enjoyed traveling with his wife Kay and also spent winters in Naples, FL at Royal Wood. He enjoyed golf, both in Florida and at home in Brewster, where he was a member of The Captains Golf Course.
Visitation will be at the Lehman Reen & McNamara Funeral Home, 63 Chestnut Hill Ave. (near Brighton Courthouse), Brighton on Wednesday, February 22, from 8:30-9:30 am. A 10 am Funeral Mass will follow at Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Mission Church), 1545 Tremont Street, Mission Hill, Boston. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Roxbury. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
