of Brighton, originally from Cambridge died peacefully surrounded by family on August 28, 2018 at 88. Beloved wife of 58 years to the late Walter J. Kupris. Devoted mother of Ann Phillips of Dover, Paul of Weymouth, Teri Deodato of W. Newton, John of Woburn, Linda Holahan of Billerica and the late David Kupris. Sister of the late Neal “Buddy”, Daniel and Henry "Harry” Shea. Also survived by 13 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Helen was a very active volunteer in all six of her children’s school activities. She was a Girl Scout leader, Sunday school teacher, bus monitor and teacher’s aide for many years. Helen went to Cape Cod Community College to study nursing and worked for the Visiting Nurse Association of Boston. She also was a pre-school teacher in Cotuit on the Cape. Helen always loved to read and had many hobbies, especially collecting jewelry. She was a lifelong volunteer for the Women’s League of Voters and supported many female political candidates. In her retirement years, Helen and Wally enjoyed traveling to Florida and spending time at their Cape Cod, Hyannis house with their beloved family. Helen's philosophy on life was to embrace laughter and enjoy special moments with family and friends.
Funeral from the Lehman Reen & McNamara Funeral Home Saturday, Sept 8th at 9:30 am. Followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Columbkille Church 321 Market St., Brighton at 10:30 am.Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting Hours Friday September 7th from 4-8 pm. Interment Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne Monday September 10th at 1:30pm.
