Jonathan W. Lane of Natick passed away peacefully September 18th surrounded by family after a brave battle with cancer. He was born to Dorothy (Leyes) and Howard Lane on April 14th, 1948. He grew up in Staten Island, New York, a place that remained near and dear to his heart for the rest of his life. He attended Tottenville High School before continuing on to Boston University.
Jon’s curiosity and intellect were the foundations of his many personal and professional successes. He began his professional career as a recruiter and went on to a 25 year career as Vice President of Human Resources at Data General, one of the original technology innovators. He then founded ProductWorks, a human resources consulting firm focused on helping small businesses with growth strategies, organizational development and improving efficiencies, where he worked until his death.
Jon was a quick study who mastered everything he set his mind to: being a father, grandfather, photographer, gardener, business owner, cook, and family historian. Jon was a ‘father’ to many, and his advice and wisdom was frequently relied upon by both personal and professional relations. “You can’t have too many people who love you”, he would say.
A seeker who lived in the present, Jon loved learning new skills, trying a new recipe, or reading a great book and was always eager to share his discoveries.
He approached adventures and challenges with optimism and never took anything in life for granted. He found the best in every moment and threw himself into each new endeavor. Jon was a very funny man - always quick with a joke - sometimes dry, often teasing, always on point.
Jon’s jovial spirit and zest for life will be missed by all who knew him but especially by his beloved wife, Jane Nolette, his daughters and their husbands, Samantha and Joey Walsh of Davidson, NC; Vanessa Lane and Jack Easley of Verona, NJ and his son, Chris Danaher and his wife, Monica. He also leaves six adored grandchildren: Natalia, Benjamin, Charlotte and Abigail Walsh, Grayson Danaher and Jackie Easley to whom he was affectionately known as “Pop”. Beloved brother of Dr. Christopher Lane and his wife Mariam of Virginia, his niece Chloe, nephew Elliott, as well as many cherished cousins, extended family and friends.
A memorial will be held on October 13th, details to be announced.
