Beau Lew, age 70, of Brighton, Massachusetts passed away on October 23, 2023.He was born in 1953 in Boston to Lew Fook Dew and Lee Mei June. Beau was a graduate of Brighton High School. Retired in 2007 from the Department of Defense after 30 years. Earlier this year, Beau was diagnosed with lung cancer, which required surgery. If you ask any doctor and nurse who treated Beau, they will likely remark that he was a memorable patient who liked to crack jokes despite his condition.
Beau loved to frequent Dunkin Donuts, which he fondly referred to as “Double D”. He made many friends there over a cup of joe. He was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox and never missed a game, whether on TV, radio, or in person. His hobbies included repairing his car and working in the garden—a passion he developed after his mother died. He was a loving yet sarcastic uncle to 6 nieces and nephews and 8 great-nieces and great-nephews, often being the catalyst for “nightlife” aka a trip to Cabot’s for ice cream, a friendly game of Canasta, or a “5-cent tour” of Boston. Beau never allowed any of his beloved nieces and nephews to take public transportation from the airport or train when they visited, instead he would be patiently waiting in his vehicle in the exact spot he confirmed before they arrived.
Beau will be deeply missed by his brothers and sisters; Polly Collings, Betty Lew, Brighton Lew, Margie Lew and Lucy Doyon; brother-in-law James Doyon; by his nieces and nephews, Kristina Collings-Hill, Mark Collings, Katherine Ray, Rachel Doyon, Timothy Doyon and Andrew Beck Lew; and by his great-nieces and great-nephews, Jeffrey Collings, Colin Hill, Tyler Collings Amanda Hill, Madeleine Ray, Charlize Ray, Louis Ray and Wynn Kolodziej.
A celebration of Beau’s life will be held at a later date.
