Chester G. Reeves, III, 76, originally of Allston, MA and more recently, Newton, MA, the patriarch of the Reeves and Baker families, passed away on June 12, 2025, after a brief battle with gallbladder cancer, surrounded by family and friends and held in the comforting arms of his faith.
Born in 1948, Chet was a devoted son, brother, father and friend. Above all, he was committed to his faith in God.
Chet graduated from Charlestown High School while growing up in Allston, Massachusetts. He was very driven and had an unwavering, entrepreneurial spirit that began at a very early age when he won a bicycle at the age of 14 for selling so many new Boston Herald subscriptions that the newspaper had to create new delivery routes to fulfill them. In his early 20s, he bought a Ferris Wheel with his late friend, Paul Myra, and they hit the carny circuit. He also bought the Tower of Pizza, well-remembered by the Allston community, which was later the scene of a well-remembered extended family Thanksgiving. Chet, never missing an opportunity, then opened the Cricket Lounge in Ashland, the Canterbury Pub in Beverly and Magoo’s in West Newton.
In his later years, he ran a successful livery business and more recently retired as an Uber driver.
He loved music ---- The Beach Boys ---- his all-time favorite. He was an avid concertgoer, with experiences seeing Sonny and Cher in an Allston coffee shop, taking his brother, Kevin to see Three Dog Night, and other musical greats.
He was predeceased by his late father, Chester G. Reeves, Jr., of Natick, MA, mother, Edith M. Reeves of Westborough, MA and younger brother, Steve C. Reeves of Quincy, MA. He was survived by his daughter Heather E. Reeves of Lynn, MA, younger brothers Kevin P. Reeves of Brighton, MA and Daniel S. Reeves of Los Angeles, CA, his sisters Jill S. McMillen and her husband, Rick, of Millbury, MA and Laurie M. Baldi and her husband, Jim, of Quincy, MA, a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, and his cherished friends, Laurie and Jamie Christie, Elizabeth Hanlon, Kirby and Terry Boyce and Kenny and Peg Perry, among others.
The family will host a Celebration of Life for Chet at a later date.
