Daniel Cooper Obituary

Daniel M. Cooper of Walpole, formerly of Allston, passed away peacefully on May 1st, 2026 Beloved husband of the late Patricia (Tillot) Cooper with whom he spent 61 beautiful years. Devoted father of Mark Cooper (BPD Ret.) and his wife, Paula; Cheryl Murphy (BPD Ret.) and her husband, Patrick (BPD), all of Walpole; Kevin Cooper (BPD Ret.) and his wife, Lucy, of Mansfield; and Brian Cooper and his wife, Maryann, of Windham, NH. Cherished “Gramps” of Caitlin and Jillian Cooper; Aidan, Harry, and Daniel Murphy; Noelle, Sophie and Trace Cooper; Nora, Luke, Evan, and Benjamin Cooper. Predeceased by his brothers, Harry & Arthur Cooper, step-brother, Robert Tompkins and brother-in-law, Robert Tillot. Dear uncle to Judith, Joseph and Brian Cooper. Danny also leaves behind a special bond with his goddaughter, Ellen Furlan, her husband Rick and their son Shawn, as well as Ellen’s brother Shawn McKenzie and his wife Bettyann.

He was also a Friend of Bill W.A devoted member of St. Anthony’s Church, he cherished his faith and the friendships he shared, especially Sunday mornings after Mass enjoying coffee and conversation with Bill Corrigan and fellow parishioners. Danny dedicated many years of service to the MBTA before enjoying a well-earned retirement. He was a man who found joy in life’s simple pleasures — casting a line while fishing, tinkering endlessly with projects, and never passing up a good ice cream treat. In his later years, some of his happiest times were spent enjoying family vacations on the Cape and in Aruba. Most recently, he came to love road trips with his daughter, Cheryl, especially to the Amish country of Pennsylvania, where they created lasting memories.

He will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, curious hands, sweet tooth, and the love he shared with family through life’s everyday adventures. Those who knew him best knew there was always a joke to be told, a playful story to share, or a smile waiting just around the corner. His sense of humor and lighthearted spirit brought laughter to family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He also shared a special bond with his beloved dog, Trixie who brought him loyal companionship and joy.

A funeral service will be held from the Lehman Reen & McNamara Funeral Home, 63 Chestnut Hill Ave (near Brighton Courthouse), Brighton, on Saturday, May 9th, at 9:30 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Anthony Church, 43 Holton Street, Allston, at 10:30 AM.
