Daniel Guerra Martins, 38, beloved father of Isabella and loving fiancée of Elisa Reghitto, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 21st, 2019.
Born in Brazil, Daniel first came to the US, flown by his uncle, pilot Julio Guerra, as an exchange student in Kansas. He resided there for over a decade where he worked as a chef and was the lead singer and guitarist for the reggae band, Yucca Roots. He gained many close friends during his time there that became part of his family.
Daniel was the kind of man who would light up a room with his warm smile. He had a way of making others feel comfortable and at ease. His gentle spirit and enormous heart made it difficult not to be drawn to him. He was currently studying computer science and bartending at Legal Sea Foods, but his true passions were cooking for his family and friends, and music.
His greatest joy in life however was becoming a father to Isabella and spending time with the love of his life, Elisa. The immense happiness his family brought him was evident to anyone who knew him.
In addition to his beloved daughter, Isabella and fiancée, Elisa, Daniel is survived by his father, Dorival Martins and his wife Giovanna; his mother, Eleine Guerra; his sisters, Leticia Isabel, Camila Moreira and her husband Ricardo; his brother Augusto Cesar and his wife Talita Martins; his future parents in-laws, Elizabeth and Lawrence Reghitto, his future brothers and sisters in-laws, Lindsey and Michael Stam, Andrew, Michael and Sarah Duchesney, Kaitlyn, Meggie, Sophia, Anthony and Kiera; his niece Sabrina and nephew Mateus; his uncles and aunts, Alexandre Guerra and Virginia, Firmo Guerra, Divino and Solange, Zica, Orlanda, Maria Lucia and Francisco Avila, Eleusa and Andre, Cleusa and Osvaldo, Cleusa Valois; his cousins, Julio Guerra, Olga, Maria Eduarda, Daniela, Joao Paulo, Julianna, Ana Paula, Aurino Neto, Julia, Milton, Marise, Maria Alice, Mauricio, Marilia, Marlene, Diogenes, Ana Paula, Ana Lucia, Cristiane Avila, Francisco Junior, Ana Cristina, Alessandra, Andre Junior, Sandro, Luciano, Carlos Alberto, Rodrigo, Adriana, Cristiane, Adelaine, Ibis, Renata and Alexandre Brito, Kenia, Leonardo, Karla, Leandro, Glenda, Rodolpho and many extended family members and close friends. Daniel was predeceased by his aunt Tasmania Guerra.
Friends and family are welcome to gather for a Service of Remembrance, at 11:00AM on Saturday, January 26th, at the church of Saint Ignatius of Loyola, 28 Commonwealth Ave., Chestnut Hill, MA 02467. There are no calling hours and burial will be private.
