David F Henshon

David F. Henshon, (Uncle David), born March 6, 1941, died October 1, 2021, at 80 years of age. He was a lifelong Brighton resident who graduated from St. Columbkille’s High School, was a caddy, an altar boy, an army veteran, a technician for American Optical Co., and spent most of his working life at Boston College, from which he retired.

He is survived by his brother, Tom (sister-in-law the late Elaine Mary Henshon), his friend Virginia, his nephews Matthew (Amanda), Andrew (Meghan), Brian, and niece, Dr. Suzanna Henshon. Also, his eight grand nephews and nieces, Will, Mark, James, Owen, and the twins Cecily and Molly, and Maeve and Sarah Elaine.

David took great care of all his many dogs, bringing them to Hull each summer Sunday at precisely 1pm for lobster dinner lovingly prepared by Elaine, who also spoke with him every day at 5pm for over 50 years. He enjoyed going to Jake’s in Hull. After getting up each morning at 4am, he visited Twin Donuts, Kiki’s and Café Mirror for coffee and talk with his acquaintances. He made many friends in the Brighton Cambodian community, all of whom were very kind to David. He was a very loyal, honest, gentle, kind person, a giver and not a taker, who was Brighton in all ways. From St. Elizabeth’s to Lena’s, to the Palace Spa to the Pool Room and Horrigan’s Market and finally back to St. Elizabeth’s. David was Brighton all the way.

Visiting in the Lehman, Reen, & McNamara Funeral Home, Tuesday, October 5, 2021, from 9:30 – 10:30am. Followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Columbkille Church, 321 Market St., Brighton at 11:00am.  Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.  David will be laid to rest next to his mother, Catherine, in New Calvary Cemetery.
