Eileen May (O’Sullivan) Geaney of Brighton, formerly of Gneeveguilla, County Kerry, Ireland passed away peacefully on May 16, 2024. Beloved “Nell” of the late William J. Geaney. Devoted mother of Kathleen Golden and her husband Daniel of Norwood, Jennifer Lynch and her husband Brandon of West Roxbury. Loving Nana to Emerson and Ronan Golden, Andrew and Molly Lynch. Sister of Margaret McSweeney and Laura Sweeney both of County Kerry, Ireland and the late Mary Sullivan, Hannah Mary Daly, Daniel, Seamus, Patrick, Thomas and Jeremiah O’Sullivan. Also survived by several nieces and nephews in Boston, Ireland and Scotland. Eileen was born in the small village of Gneeveguilla,County Kerry, Ireland. It was here that she developed a love for family, Irish music, dancing and her Catholic faith. These loves continued when she arrived in 1959 to her two brothers and sister in Somerville. She enjoyed singing and dancing in social clubs and dance halls all around the city. Eileen met the love of her life at a christening in Allston in 1966. This is where she first laid eyes on the quiet, handsome Corkman with the quick wit and the head of black wavy hair, Billy Geaney. They married in 1967 and settled in Brighton for the next 54 years where they raised their two daughters.
Nothing made Eileen happier than spending time with her daughters and their families, especially being a Nana. She took care of all four grandchildren in their early years and continued to offer her advice and support as they grew. One of the many things we learned from our mom was to enjoy every day.. be thankful for your health, family and friends and to have as much fun with your friends as you possibly can. Eileen loved seeing her friends on Mondays at the Cara Club. They are a fabulous group of ladies that are devoutly religious and love to laugh. We would like to thank everyone that helped us care for Mom in her last few years and the staff at Beaumont Skilled Nursing Center in Natick.
