of Allston, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 10, 2021. She was 85. The daughter of the late Anton and Margaret (Grealish) Carlson, Betty was born in Brookline and raised in Allston. She and her brothers lost their father early in their lives. On June 4, 1955, Betty married the love of her life, William Danner, and they made their home in Allston in the same home where she grew up. Betty and Bill raised seven children and she was a loving caregiver for her mother. She was a devoted wife to her husband of 63 years, the late William Danner, with whom she is now reunited, and proud mother of seven children, Ellen Fougere and her husband Joseph of Colchester, CT; John of Port Charlotte, FL; Brian and his wife Barbara of Scituate; Paul and his wife Carol of Holliston; Nancy Chaisson and her partner John of Litchfield, NH; Cathleen Stewart and her husband Craig of Waltham; and Steven and his wife Joanne of Flagstaff, AZ. Beloved sister of the late John Carlson and his late wife Carol of Bedford, David Carlson and his wife Joan of Bethel, ME, and Msgr. George Carlson of Hull. Cherished Grammy to Michael, Nina, Joseph, Jessica, Crystal, Christopher, Marianne, Robin, Matthew, Kristin, Kerry, Kimberly, Kelly, Skyler, Jay, Rachel and Eric. Great-grandmother of Flynn, Evie, Jacob, Payton, Connor, Brendan, Mackenzie, Scout, and Nora, and aunt to many nieces and nephews.
After her children all reached school age, Betty worked part time at Alpine Bearing Company between 1975 and 2000. She was also active in the Allston Civic Association for several years. Highly intelligent and knowledgeable, she took pride in completing challenging crossword puzzles and rarely missed watching “Jeopardy!” Her pumpkin chiffon pie was beyond compare, and her potato salad will never be replicated. But Betty’s true hallmarks were her quiet strength and steady focus on her family’s wellbeing.
