Elizabeth “Betty Ann” DiMascio (Powell), age 75, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2025, at The Neville Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Born on March 14, 1950, Betty Ann was the daughter of Henry and Emily Powell. She grew up in a close-knit family in Watertown and graduated from Watertown High School in 1968. Her commitment to learning and helping others led her to pursue further education later in life; she earned a degree in Medical Assisting from Aquinas College in 1991.
Betty Ann shared a lasting marriage with her husband, Daniel DiMascio. Together they built a loving home and raised three children: Lesley Christoforo, Matthew DiMascio, and Lauren DiMascio Hilary. She welcomed their spouses—Rich Christoforo and Andrew Hilary—into the family with warmth and affection. Betty Ann took great joy in her role as grandmother to Giuliana, Nicholas, and Andy.
She was preceded in death by her beloved sister Margaret “Peggy” Flood; brothers Billy Powell and Robert Powell; and her parents, Henry and Emily Powell.
Betty Ann had a gentle spirit and a generous heart. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—curling up with a good book, filling pages of her journals with thoughts and reflections, or catching up on her favorite soap operas. A lifelong fan of Neil Diamond, she especially loved attending his concerts or enjoying free performances at Government Center back in the 1990s. These moments brought her happiness that she often shared with those around her.
Her kindness touched many lives. Whether through quiet acts of thoughtfulness or heartfelt conversations, Betty Ann made people feel seen and cared for. Her presence was a source of comfort to those who knew her.
A private memorial and celebration will be held at a later date.
May her memory bring peace to all who loved her.
