McADAMS, GAYLE A. (Reidy) Of Chatham, died peacefully at home on January 25, 2024 after a valiant battle with cancer. She originally hailed from Longmeadow, MA and raised her children for more than two decades in Chestnut Hill. She coveted her summers in Chatham and she had very fond memories of her time spent in Naples, Florida.
Gayle is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, Paul, daughter and son-in-law Audrey and Colin Fenton of Wellesley Hills and son and daughter-in-law Michael and Catie McAdams of Ventura, CA.
"Gigi" was adored by her three grandchildren, Paige and William Fenton and Chase McAdams. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Madeline Reidy, as well as by her beloved aunt and uncle, Nellie and Chester Ostrowski, of Turners Falls, MA.
Gayle loved to play golf with the 9-Holers at Eastward Ho! and to sail at Stage Harbor Yacht Club. She enjoyed years of playing tennis with the ladies at Charles River, Longwood, and the Queen Ann Inn.
She cherished her many years working with Catholic Charities, where she served on the Board. She was a passionate volunteer with the Jr. League of Boston, and she had a special affinity for the pet therapy program. She also worked as a real estate agent at Coldwell Banker for 25 years, where she found many of her closest friends.
She created countless gatherings of friends and family that brought her immense joy, including holidays, fundraisers, spaghetti suppers for the BC football team, tailgates on Shea Field, and birthday celebrations. Her memory is a blessing to all who know her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in Lehman, Reen, and McNamara Funeral Home, 63 Chestnut Hill Avenue, Brighton on Monday, January 29, 5-7pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Ignatius of Loyola Church, 28 Commonwealth Avenue, Chestnut Hill, on Tuesday, January 30, at 10am. A burial will immediately follow the service at Holyhood Cemetery, 584 Heath Street, Brookline. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any gifts in memory of Gayle be directed to cancer research at Mass General Brigham Hospital, 125 Nashua Street, Suite 540, Boston, MA 02114-1101.
