Geraldine “Gerry” (Sampson) Coleman of Brighton passed away on March 26, 2023. Beloved wife of the late John “Ike” J. Coleman. Devoted mother of John “Jacky” Coleman and his wife Ann of Watertown, Cheryl Coleman of Ashland, James Coleman and his wife Laura of Medford, Christine Lawlor and her husband Patrick of Brighton, Kenneth Coleman and his wife Stephanie of Brockton, and the late Geraldine “Gerry” Coleman. Loving grandmother of John, Jimmy, Ryan, Max, Taylor, and Matthew. Great grandmother of Makenna. Sister of Frederick J. “Toppy” Sampson, Jr and his wife Sheila of Wayland and the late Kenny, Jacky and Farley Sampson. Daughter of the late Frederick and Frances (Farley) Sampson. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Geraldine’s reach extended beyond her immediate family.
Too many others she was known as Mom, Nana, Granny, Sissy, Gerry, godmother and friend. She would be there to mend someone, from patching up that scrape, to just listening, offering that emotional support when needed. No matter what, her door was always open, her heart was always open as well. She loved spending time at the beach house in Old Orchard Beach, Maine, enjoying lobster, or sharing a glass of Merlot, or two, with family, friends and neighbors. For those who knew her well, they can attest to the love, kindness and strength she had.
We were blessed to have such a wonderful person in our lives and we will miss her dearly.
