Giovanni (John) Persechini
June 25, 1936 – April 14, 2026
Giovanni (John) Persechini, A longtime resident of Brighton passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at home. He was 89 years old, born in 1936 in the mountain town of Cese, Frosinone, Italy. He came to America in July of 1956 along with his mother, father, brother and two sisters; and, personified the American Dream.
He was the loving father of Joan Waite of Brighton and Ron Persechini and his wife, Christina, of Groton. John was the dear Brother of Angela Fortuna and her late husband Joseph; Christina DiMascio and her late husband and dear friend, Phil; Fred (Fortunato) Persechini and his wife, Frances. John was also predeceased by loving sisters Marianna Soave (Giovanni); Antonette Soave (Domenico); and, Maria DiCicco (Frank).
John was the cherished Papa of John Waite, Mike Waite, Donnie Waite and Rodney Persechini. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. John’s life centered around family and friends. A lifetime member of the Sons of Italy in Watertown and avid Bocce and card player. He loved cooking for his family, gardening, foraging for mushrooms and working. He was a Carpenter by trade and worked well into his 80s. He was dearly loved and will be missed by many.
Funeral from the Lehman Reen & McNamara Funeral Home 63 Chestnut Hill Ave Brighton on Wednesday April 29th at 9:30am. Followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Columbkille Church 321 Market St Brighton at 10:30am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment Newton Cemetery. Visiting Hours on Tuesday April 28th from 4-7pm in the funeral home.
