Glenn Thomas Herb, known as Glenn, passed away on August 21, 2023, at the age of 73 in Boston, MA. He was born on March 24, 1950, in Jersey City, NJ and grew up in Secaucus, NJ. Glenn was a much beloved husband to Cindy Divine and a loving son to his mother, Hilda Herb. He was predeceased by his father, Stanley Herb. Glenn is survived by his siblings: Craig Herb (Susan Fineran), Donna Herb (Joe Barnes), Gail Herb (Bern Brody), and nephews Cooper and Brody.
Glenn was renowned for his annual barbeque and New Year's Eve parties, which brought joy to all who attended. He had a gift for maintaining lifelong friendships with his college friends and their children, he was Godfather to four, highlighting his genuine and caring nature. Glenn was gentle and strong, brilliant and humble. Glenn loved traveling and experiencing different countries and people. He also had a passion for outdoor activities, particularly hiking and sailing vacations, which allowed him to embrace the beauty of nature.
Glenn's educational journey began at Stevens Academy in Hoboken, NJ, where he completed his high school education. He then pursued higher education at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in 1972 and a Master of Science in 1973, both in Electrical Engineering.
Glenn's career began in 1973 as an Electrical Engineer for Hewlett Packard, where he designed medical electronics. Notably, he played a significant role in the development of their first portable defibrillator. He later started BTX Corp. designing equipment for the broadcast industry, and Ilium Inc. designing temperature measuring devices and electrical conductivity meters for chemical analysis in labs. Additionally, Glenn provided consulting services for several companies, specializing in the design of medical and scientific equipment. Glenn was an inventor on 27 US patents as a result of his creativity and contributions throughout his career.
A celebration of Glenn's life will be held in the future to honor his memory and the impact he had on those around him. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
