Greg (“Sonny”, “Gar”) Theodore passed away at home on Sunday afternoon, November 28th. Born in Boston on September 4, 1937, into a loving Greek family, he excelled at baseball and track at Brighton High School. (In mid-life, he derived great satisfaction coaching girls’ softball.) After graduating from East Coast Aerotech Institute in Bedford, MA, he joined the National Guard and served in the military, stationed in Hawaii. During the Golden Age of Flying, he was an airplane mechanic for Continental Airlines in Los Angeles. In his spare time, he earned a pilot’s license as well. During his career, he also worked on planes in far-flung places like Saudi Arabia and Kwajalein; also, in Miami and San Antonio. An avid nature lover, he often sailed around Cape Cod in his boat “Sagitta”. On his motorcycle, he often rode Route 2 and the byroads to Concord and Lexington, Lincoln and Sudbury to the farm stands and hiking trails. A book lover, he was inspired by the biographies of explorers like Magellan and Cooke. He is survived by his sister Anna Savas, his nephews Nick and Ted (of Osaka, Japan) and his niece, Gina, and her husband Phil of Quincy. There will be a private ceremony to honor his life.
