Helen Y. Moy, formerly of Brighton, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025, at the age of 84. Born in Shanghai, China, on July 31, 1940, Helen spent her early years in Hong Kong before moving to Chicago and eventually settling in Brighton—a place she would call home for most of her life.
Helen lived a life full of quiet strength, unwavering devotion, and a joyful spirit. She was the daughter of Chow Si Fook and Chow Yu Shui Tin. She was the beloved wife of the late Peter H. Moy, with whom she shared 53 loving years. Together, they created a home filled with love, tradition, and laughter. Helen was a devoted mother to Benjamin Moy and his wife, Eileen, of Sutton; Tina Chow and her husband, Julio, of Hopkinton; the late Lisa Chao and her surviving husband, Paul, of Needham; and Lucy Moy of Needham.
To her ten grandchildren Benjamin, Andy, Jack, Matthew, Christopher, Andrew, Michael, Jessica, Joshua, and Catherine—Helen was affectionately known as “Por Por.” She never missed a chance to share how proud she was of each of them. She also deeply loved her grand dogs, Buster and Rocky, who brought her endless joy and companionship.
Helen had a generous heart, a sharp wit, and a love for life’s little pleasures. She found joy in everyday moments, catching up with friends over mahjong, trying her luck at Foxwoods, and indulging in one of her favorite pastimes: shopping. Whether it was a quick trip to the mall or a day of browsing, she always did it in style and with a smile.
She was a cherished sister to Alice, Raymond, Peter, and Algernon, and a treasured friend to many. Her kindness, sense of humor, and deep loyalty left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Though we will miss her dearly, we take comfort in knowing Helen is now reunited with her beloved husband, Peter, her daughter Lisa, and other loved ones who went before her. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and in the memories, she gave us—full of love, laughter, and strength.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, May 16, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Lehman, Reen & McNamara Funeral Home, 63 Chestnut Hill Avenue, Brighton.
