Jeanne Irma Levasseur, age 90, passed peacefully on January 17, 2026.
Born in Saskatchewan of Western Canada, Jeanne spent the later years of her childhood in New Bedford, Massachusetts and made her married home in Maynard, Massachusetts. She was the youngest and last surviving of eight siblings. Jeanne was predeceased by her beloved husband, Arthur Levasseur, with whom she shared a 65-year marriage devoted to family and home. She was a kind and caring mother of four children and is survived by her daughter, two sons, three grandchildren, and 17 nieces and nephews.
Jeanne was known for her kind spirit, gentle nature, and warmth toward all who knew her. She found joy in correspondence, crafts, and games, and she had an easy sense of humor. In her later years, she became a regular cribbage player at the Hudson Senior Center, where she greatly enjoyed camaraderie and friendship with her fellow
players around the card table. Jeanne will be remembered with love for her generosity of heart and the great kindness she shared with those around her. Her legacy lives on through her family and the many friendships she nurtured over the years.
A memorial service in Jeanne’s honor will be held at Ascension Parish’s Saint Bridget Church (Maynard, MA) on Saturday, February 7 at 4 PM. At a later date, a funeral service will be scheduled at St. Anthony of Padua (New Bedford MA), her family’s childhood parish and school.
