JoAnn McLaughlin (née Livingston), 66, passed away on February 20, 2026. She was born on June 28, 1959, in Boston, Massachusetts, and grew up in Somerville, MA.
JoAnn was the daughter of Mary Jane Livingston (Cullity) and William Livingston. She was one of seven children and remained close to her siblings throughout her life.
Her happiest years were spent with her husband, Dave McLaughlin, who preceded her in death. Together they shared a love for the Red Sox and many of the moments that meant the most to her.
JoAnn was the mother of six children: Sarah Pelton and her partner John; Adam Marks and his wife Jaclyn; Jason Marks and his wife Elizangela; Daniel Marks and his wife Ashley; David McLaughlin and his fiancé Julie; and Jamie McLaughlin. She was a loving grandmother to Madison, EmmaRae, and Sophie.
She is survived by her sisters Kathy, Peggy, and Donna, and her brother Tommy, along with a large extended family of cousins, nieces, and nephews. She also shared a special bond with her late husband’s family, remaining close to her sisters- and brothers-in-law, who were an important part of her life. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, brothers William and George Livingston; and her best friend and sister-in-law, Karen Livingston.
She found joy in her favorite pastimes: getting lost in an Agatha Christie mystery, working through jigsaw puzzles, and following the Boston Red Sox. She loved music, especially at family parties, where she could be found singing along or dancing in the middle of it all. She also loved a good game night, whether it was Yahtzee, dice, or a competitive round of Trivial Pursuit.
JoAnn will also be remembered for the traditions she created in her own way; her famous deviled eggs that were requested at every gathering and the carefully crafted diaper cakes she made for each new baby in the family. These thoughtful gestures became part of her signature and will be remembered with every celebration.
We can picture her now with the love of her life and her best friend, reunited with her parents and brothers, where the laughter is loud, the music never stops, the Yahtzee dice are always rolling, and the Red Sox never lose.
