Joan Frances Haggerty

Joan Frances (McCabe) Haggerty of Allston, 89, crossed over into spirit on December 9, 2024.

Beloved wife of Robert “Bob” Haggerty. Bob and Joan wed in 1955 and celebrated 67 years of marriage during which time they raised their 9 children.

Joan was a much-loved wife, mother, and grandmother. Her cherished children are Arlene Genovese (Richard), Sharon Bruce (John), Kathi Crear (Steve, deceased), Laurie Haggerty-Alfano (Edward), Scott, Noelle, Wendy (Randi Laak), Stacey Lustig (Scott), and Kenny (Deb). She was nana to 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Aunt Joan to many nieces and nephews. Joan is pre-deceased by husband, Bob Haggerty; parents, John McCabe and Sophie (Zbinski) McCabe; brothers, John and Edward McCabe; and daughter, Sharon Bruce.

Joan was a constant for comfort, guidance, and humor in her friendships with so many people from each chapter of her life starting from childhood through raising her children, to her 27 years at Patient Information at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, and to CareOne in Brookline where she lived her final years.

Visiting Hours on Friday December 27th from 4:00 to 7:00pm at Lehman, Reen, McNamara Funeral Home, 63 Chestnut Hill Ave., Brighton. Funeral Mass on Saturday, December 28th at 10:00am at St. Anthony Church, 43 Holton St., Allston. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
