John Mathew DiGiovanni born February 22, 1942 of Anna (DiFino) and Carmen DiGiovanni passed suddenly on October 11, 2021. Born and raised in Roslindale, he was a longtime resident of Brighton. Husband to Mary (Concannon) DiGiovanni for 44 years. Father to Anthony DiGiovanni and his wife Tannya. Brother to Carol Melanson, Lena Humphrey and the late Louis DiGiovanni; Brother-in-law to Beverly Concannon and the late Theresa Trapilo. Uncle to Lisa Thibault and Rick Wilkins; John and Tammy Thibault, Robert Wyngowski, Louis DiGiovanni, Jr., Michael Trapilo, Stephanie Concannon Owens, Michael, Richard, and the late Robert Humphrey. Grand uncle to Jeff Dustin, Alex and Nicholas Thibeault, Sarah and Ryan Wyngowski, Ronan Trapilo, Colin, Tyler John Owens and G’nai Concannon Gavin. He was beloved in-law to the Perez Navarro Family and is survived by many cousins and friends.
John was an Army Veteran. He owned and operated Johnny D’s Sounds and Spirit later known as the Allston Ale house for 30 years. He also worked many years in the Security Department of St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center. He was a member of the St. Joseph’s Society of the North End and was very proud of his Italian heritage.
Funeral from the Lehman Reen & McNamara Funeral Home 63 Chestnut Hill Ave. (nr Brighton Courthouse) BRIGHTON on Saturday October 16th at 9:30am. Followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Columbkille Church 321 Market Street Brighton at 10:30am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment Private. Visiting Hours on Friday October 15th from 3-8pm in the funeral home.
