John Schroeder Obituary

John “Jack” Schroeder, of Feeding Hills, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2025 after a courageous battle with stage 4 lung cancer. His loving family and nurses were by his side at Vantage Health and Rehab of Westfield.

Jack, an Allston native, was born on February 24, 1943 to Boston Detective John Schroeder and Wanda Dombrowski Schroeder. Jack graduated from Boston Technical High School and immediately enlisted in the United States Army. Upon completing his service, Jack utilized his drive and charismatic personality to pursue a career in sales. He worked for Sarnafil, a commercial roofing company, where he was continuously named Top Salesperson of the Year. After many years of success, he decided to branch out on his own and become an independent sales representative. That was when JAS Associates was established. His drive and ambition came from his desire to always better himself and from knowing any obstacle could be overcome.

Although Jack worked hard for his success, he always made time for his family and friends. Generous to a fault, he often took his wife and three children on Caribbean vacations and loved hosting dinners for neighborhood friends. Jack was an avid golfer and was lucky enough to celebrate not one, but two holes-in-one. Jack’s other passion was reading. He was often seen sitting in his favorite chair reading several books per week.

Jack and his family moved around for his job, but he never forgot where he came from. After his uncle and father were both killed in the line of duty, Jack never missed a year to present a Boston police officer with the Schroeder Brothers medal, the top honor in the department. He was awarded Person of the Year by the Boston Police Relief Association in 2024 for being such an integral part of the organization over the past 50 years.

The biggest void will be Jack’s sense of humor. He loved joking with and playing pranks on everyone, he came in contact with. Believing laughter was the best medicine, he demonstrated his quick wit until the very end.

Jack is predeceased by the love of his life, Karen Johnson Schroeder, his parents John and Wanda Schroeder, his sisters Christine Miedema and Wandy Quinn, his brother-in- law Wayne Miedema, sister-in-law Helen Schroeder and son-in-law Michael Mulrenan.

He is survived by his brother Richard Schroeder, brother-in-law Kevin Quinn, his children Scott Schroeder of Andover, Amy Mulrenan of Winchester, Beth Ingham of Feeding Hills, his grandchildren Jake, Rhein, Shaye, Cole, Bree and Lake, his aunt Irene McCall, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
