John “Jack” Horrigan Of Newton, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Miriam Boyd Parlin Hospice Wayland at the age of 87. He was born on July 1,1935. Son of the late Leo and Mary (Monroe) Horrigan and brother to the late Joan Elizabeth Horrigan. Loving cousin of Frank Horrigan of Bedford, Nancy Horrigan Cronan of New Bedford, and Patricia Horrigan Pakos of Sudbury.
Jack was a kind and gentle man who was loved by all. He took great pride in his neighborhood and often assisted neighbors with their newspapers and trash containers. He loved the Red Sox and the Patriots and never missed a game. He worked at his father’s grocery store, Horrigan’s Market, Washington Street, Brighton for 27 years from the age of 18. Followed that, he worked in the State Treasurer’s office in the McCormick Building for 19 years.
For 17 years in his retirement, he could be found in the halls of St. Elizabeths hospital volunteering where everybody knew him.
Funeral from the Lehman, Reen & McNamara Funeral Home, 63 Chestnut Hill Ave (nr Brighton Courthouse) Brighton on Tuesday October 10th at 9am. Followed by a funeral mass in the Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola, 29 Commonwealth Ave, Chestnut Hill at 10:00 a.m. Relative and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery West Roxbury. Visiting hours Monday, October 9, 2023 from 3-6pm in the funeral home.
