Joseph Creighton Obituary

Joseph F. Creighton, Sr., of Brighton, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026, at the age of 59.

Born in Newton on March 28, 1967, Joe was the beloved son of the late Warren and Catherine (Murphy) Creighton. He was the devoted and loving spouse of Tracy McDonnell, and a proud father to Joseph F. Creighton II, Matthew Creighton, and Nicole Tobin.

Joe was the cherished brother of James Creighton, Sheila Regal, Catherine Martinez, and the late Thomas and Ronald Creighton. He was also a proud and loving uncle to Jennifer Meritil, Cecella Urena, Amanda Martinez, Delmaris Martinez, and his many nieces and nephews, including many great-nieces and great-nephews whom he adored beyond measure. Family meant everything to Joe, and there was nothing he wouldn't do for those he loved.

Joe had a personality that filled every room he entered. He was the life of every party, always making people laugh with his quick wit, infectious smile, and larger-than-life presence. He never met a stranger, and the countless friendships he built throughout his life are a testament to the kind of man he was. His friends loved him like family, and he loved them just as deeply.

One of Joe's greatest joys was cooking for the people he loved. Every meal was made with what he proudly called "LOOOOOVE!" Whether it was a holiday gathering, backyard cookout, or a simple family dinner, Joe believed food was his way of bringing people together. His kitchen was always filled with laughter, stories, and unforgettable memories.

Behind his outgoing personality was an even bigger heart. Joe would drop everything without hesitation to help a family member, friend, or anyone in need. He was loyal, generous, compassionate, and fiercely protective of those he loved. His kindness, humor, and unwavering love will leave a lasting legacy in the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Joe was a longtime mechanic with the Boston Police Department at District 14, where he dedicated many years of service and built lifelong friendships.

Visiting hours will be held at Lehman Reen & McNamara Funeral Home, 63 Chestnut Hill Avenue (near Brighton Courthouse), Brighton, on Friday, July 24, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., followed by a Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe's memory may be made to the New England Center and Home for Veterans, 17 Court Street, Boston, MA 02108.

Joe's laughter, love, generosity, and unforgettable spirit will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
