Judith A. (Gilson) Gavin of Brighton peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on March 21, 2026. She was born in Lowell on April 29, 1941, to the late Herbert and Mary C. (Brennan) Gilson. Beloved wife of the late Richard D. Gavin. Devoted mother of Michael Gavin and his wife Julie of Pepperell, and beloved mother and best friend of Beth Gavin of Brighton. Loving Nana to her three angels Kaleigh, Colin and Maeve. Cherished sister of Patricia Manson, Linda Brassil, Virginia Goggin, Mary Lou Leary and the late Eleanor Mehigan, Albert, Robert and Herbert Gilson. Also survived by many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Judy taught ceramics at the Jackson Mann Community Center for many years alongside her dearest friend, Ann Harris. She also spent many years working for the Sisters of Saint Joseph, a role that brought her great joy. She was an active member and volunteer at the Veronica B. Smith Senior Center, where she formed many meaningful friendships later in life.
Visiting Hours in the Lehman Reen & McNamara Funeral Home 63 Chestnut Hill Ave (nr Brighton Courthouse) Brighton on Saturday April 4th from 10am-1pm. Followed by a Prayer Service at 1pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Judy may be made to VNA Hospice Care, 100 Trade Center Drive Suite G 500 Woburn, MA 01801.
