November 1, 1933 – April 1, 2026
Leon Lewis Furr Junior, 92, of Natick, MA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 1, 2026.
Born on November 1, 1933, to Iva and Leon Lewis Furr Sr., he was raised in Medford Massachusetts. At the age of 23, he married Perla Norris, the love of his life for 69 years until her passing. He is deeply missed by his children—Michael Furr, Mark Furr, Angela Hofmann, and Beth Furr, his 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren —as well as his sister, Dawn Lewis Furr, and brother, Ronald Furr. He is preceded in death by his sisters Ester, Jean, Glory and brothers Richard and James Furr.
Leon led a life of service, artistry, and family. Before he could drive a car, he became a licensed pilot. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, piloted the T-33, KC-135, C-124 and C-123. Leon served in the Vietnam War with honor piloting his airplane on missions and rising to the rank of Lt. Colonel before retiring from the U.S. Air Force Reserves. While he served, he honed his sculpting skills, creating fine pieces sold in art galleries and crafting awards along with a bicentennial commemorative coin for the U.S. Pentagon. His love of sculpting was only outweighed by his desire to support his wife Perla in her art of dance, assisting her in every aspect from photography, stage set design, lighting, program design, and sound tech.
His life was one of courage, artistry, and enduring love. His spirit lives on in every person he touched and every piece of art he leaves behind.
A celebration of Leon’s joyous life will be held on April 24, 2026. To attend, please contact the family for details. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his honor to Care Dimensions.
