Mary Maye Obituary

of Rye, NH (formerly of Brighton and Andover, MA) passed away peacefully on November 4, 2022. She was the beloved wife of the late William Maye, devoted mother of Mary Ellen Whyte, Patricia (Robert) Wheeler, Kathleen (John Wayne) Cook, Robert (Heidi Holihan) Maye, and Paul (Katie Chou) Maye, loving grandmother of Ryan, Megan, John, Kevin, David, Christy, Jacqueline, Colleen, William, Ronan, and Brendan, and 17 great-grandchildren. Daughter of the late John and Ellen (McCarthy) Coleman, she was predeceased by her siblings John Coleman, Jr., Elsie Cronin, Catherine (Rena) Coleman, Paul Coleman, son-in-law William Whyte, and grandson Matthew Maye. She is survived by her sister-in-law Patricia Coleman and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Lehman, Reen & McNamara Funeral Home, 63 Chestnut Hill Ave., Brighton, on Thursday, November 10, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Columbkille Church, 321 Market St., at 10:30 am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury. Visiting Hours on Wednesday, November 9, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Funeral Home. Mary was a proud alumna of St. Columbkille School and a longtime member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Our Lady of the Presentation 1543.

She was employed by the town of Brookline MA School Department, the Boston Police Headquarters Hackney Division, and the Value of Life Committee.  

The family will be eternally grateful for the loving, compassionate and professional care she received at Webster at Rye during the last years of her life. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mary may be made to Webster at Rye, 795 Washington Rd., Rye, NH 03870 or to  St. Columbkille Partnership School, 321 Market St., Brighton, MA 02135.

The family kindly requests that masks be worn at the visitation.
