Mirta Torres Obituary

Of Roslindale formerly of Jamaica Plain and Matanzas, Cuba passed away on June 17, 2022 at the age of 95.  Beloved wife of the late Norberto Torres.  Devoted mother of Odalis Torres-Vivas and her husband Hector Vivas of Brighton.  Loving grandmother of Silvana and Sebastian Vivas.  Sister of Marta C. Valdes of Jamaica Plain and the late Jose A. Valdes and sister-in-law Zoila Valdes.  Aunt of Lourdes Valdes and Jose J. Valdes.  She became a teacher in Cuba in 1950.  She immigrated to Boston in 1969. She was an elementary school teacher in Boston Public Schools from 1972 to 1997, when she retired.  She loved life, teaching, writing poetry, sewing, cooking, music, dancing and spending time with family.

Private Funeral Mass will be held at St. Columbkille Church. 

In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Mrs. Torres may be made to American Heart Association 300 5th Ave Waltham, MA 02451 or American Diabetes Association PO Box 7023 Merrifield, VA 22116
