Our beloved sister, Patty, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2026, at Keystone Nursing Center in Leominster, Massachusetts. In her final weeks, her five brothers and sisters lovingly cared for her and were by her side, ensuring she was never alone, even overnight. She was 65 years old.
Patty was born on August 22, 1960, in Watertown to the late Pat (Shanahan) and Tony Arena. She was raised in Watertown and Allston and was the fifth of six children. Patty attended Thomas Gardner Elementary School, Taft Junior High School, and graduated from Brighton High School.
For many years, Patty worked in the nursing home industry as a dedicated and loyal accounting manager. She especially enjoyed her role as a third-party biller and liaison for families working with MassHealth. A true advocate, she helped families navigate complex challenges with patience and care. Patty found success in many areas of finance and was known for her strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
As a child, Patty enjoyed family camping trips and also loved swimming at the family home in Wareham. She had a lifelong fondness for animals and enjoyed horseback riding in her free time. Patty was often found behind the camera at family parties and gatherings, patiently waiting to capture the perfect moment. She also had an elegant sense of style, with a love for beautiful clothing, coordinating accessories and always a coffee in hand.
As the years passed, Patty especially treasured the time she spent with her nieces and nephews. Her kind heart, gentle nature, and endless smiles will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
Our family is deeply grateful to Gentive Hospice of Auburn, MA for their compassionate, loving care delivered in such a tender manner during Patty’s final days.
Patty is survived by her beloved sisters, Antoinette (Arena) Foynes and her husband Robert and Eileen Arena, and her loving brothers, Joseph Arena and his wife Susan, Robert Arena and his wife Karen, and Timothy Arena and his wife Oneida. She was a proud and cherished aunt to Paul, Kellie, Tracey, Jessica, Emma, and Gabby. Patty is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and countless cousins, as well as her precious cat, Jake.
