Robert A. McRae of Boston passed away on October 22, 2025. Born in Boston on March 28, 1947, he was the beloved son of the late Albert and Theresa (Morrison) McRae.
Devoted father of Kimberly and her husband Mark Herzig and Danielle McRae and her partner Nicholas Lynch. Loving grandfather of Christopher, Gianna, Victoria, and Gisella. Cherished brother of Paul McRae and the late Billy, Tommy, and David McRae. Former husband of Noreen Lombardi McRae.
Robert proudly served his country as a veteran of both the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army. Following his military service, he worked as an engineer at Raytheon, contributing to the Hawk Defense System—a project that later took him and his family to Saudi Arabia.
A devoted fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots, Robert’s love of sports extended beyond the stands. In his free time, he served as an umpire for local high school and college baseball games throughout the Boston area.
Before his illness, Robert was proud to continue serving fellow veterans through his work at the VA Bedford.
Visiting hours will be held in the Lehman, Reen & McNamara Funeral Home, 63 Chestnut Hill Ave (near Brighton Courthouse), Brighton, on October 30th at 9 am.
A Funeral Mass will follow in St. Columbkille Church, 321 Market St, Brighton, at 10:30 a.m.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne
