of Arlington, passed away on June 6, 2021.  Beloved wife of John F. McAllister of Arlington.  Devoted mother of Jennifer McAllister of Malden, John F. McAllister, Jr. and his wife Maureen of Hopedale, and Mitchell McAllister and his wife Jennifer of Stoneham.  Dear sister of Gail Columbare and Chester Whited, Jr.  Loving grandmother of Marijane, Brendan, Delia, and Brooklyn McAllister.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Sandra (Sandy) was raised in Dorchester, MA, St. Peter’s Parish. The oldest child of Chester and Wanda Whited.  Sandy married the love of her life John (Jack)McAllister the fall of 1967. Nothing made her happier than having her large extended family and friends at her home in Arlington or on her deck at the Cape.  Where she would cook for you and make you feel special. Her true gift was taking care of those she loved and those that needed to be loved.

Always ready with a joke, a filled squirt gun or words of love and encouragement.  She cherished her family, extended family consisting of loving sister in laws, brother in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, lifelong friends, and her cherished four-legged grand dogs Rusty, Lola and Hazel.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

Jack and family, we are so sorry for your loss. We appreciate the photos and books of Margie's that Sandy gave us so that they could be reunited with our house. Mostly we have appreciated having Sandy as a neighbor. We enjoyed all of our curbside chats over the years and will miss them, and her greatly.

We have only just learned of dear Sandy's passing and send all our best wishes and deepest condolences to Jack and his family.  Sandy was one of the hearts of Ravine Street, always stopping to talk and always smiling with her whole heart.  We are sorry to think there won't be another chance to share some neighborhood news together.  We are so sorry.  Much love from Sharon, Richard, Nicholas and Cordelia

It was with shock and great sadness that we learned of Sandra’s passing.
It seems like just yesterday she was making her way back from town on Ravine Street, and as always, stopping to ask after us and our kids, or remembering our beloved dogs.
Sandra and Jack are for us what makes Arlington a welcoming, cherishable community.
Our deepest sympathy goes to her family and dear friends, and especially to Jack, for whom we imagine she will be very much alive in his heart and mind going forth. The very noticeable warm twinkle in her smiling eyes always radiated a deep, soulful happiness which we well imagine came from him and their family times together.
She will endure in our sense of home and neighborhood forever more, as I’m sure she remains a precious presence for all who love her, in her family and as close friends.
Our heartfelt condolences go to you all in remembrance of her.
