Patricia Ann (Lyons) O’Kane, 67, of Newtonville passed away on August 10th. She was the beloved wife of Bernard R. O’Kane for 41 years. Patricia was loving mother to sons Conor, Andrew and Gregory, daughters-in-law, Erin Hoffman and Hannah Nguyen and Nana to her grandchildren, Clara and Calvin O’Kane.

Patricia was the daughter of Dorothy (O’Rourke) Lyons and the late George A. Lyons Jr., and the eldest sister of Judith Lyons, the late Maureen Fredette and the late Linda Lyons-Nazarian.

Patricia is also survived and cherished by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.

Born on May 26th 1950, Patricia grew up in both Natick and Holliston. She attended Marion High School followed by Boston College where she graduated in 1978 and met her future husband. Patricia and Bernard were married on Nov 8th, 1975, in Holliston, MA.

Patricia held several positions at Boston College over the years, retiring in 2015 as the Assistant Director of the Pre-Med Advising Office.

She was known to her family and friends as a premiere hostess, especially of the O’Kane’s legendary Boston College Football tailgates.

Patricia was highly involved in the activities of her sons, including the Boston College High School Dramatics Society and Mother’s Guild and The University Chorale and student service immersion programs of Boston College.

Patty, to her friends, was a strong supporter of the arts and creativity in development and education. Her sons flourished under their parents’ promotion of creativity and dramatic arts and now pass that importance on to their own young families. She is survived by a sea of family and friends who will remember her grace, character and strength in life.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Patricia’s life at her funeral mass on Monday, August 14th at 11am at the Church of Saint Ignatius of Loyola, 28 Commonwealth Avenue, Chestnut Hill.
Visitation will be held at Lehman, Reen & McNamara Funeral Home, 63 Chestnut Hill Avenue, Brighton, on Sunday, August 13th from 3pm-7pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Patricia’s name may be made to The New England Foundation for the Arts (www.nefa.org).
